LENGTH OF WALK: 1 hour, moderate pace; If you have any problems walking, you do not have to walk the entire time. We generally walk 30 minutes out, 30 minutes back.
Location: Varies - See location list BELOW
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Date: First Sunday of Every Month
*If the First Sunday falls on a holiday, or incliment weather prevents the walk, the Bully Walk is automatically rescheduled for the following Sunday, in the same location.
ALL DOGS ARE WELCOME! The Bully Walk is not limited to only "Bully breed" owners.
Purpose: The purpose of the Bully Walk is to bring together responsible pet owners and their dogs to walk and bring positive awareness to good dogs owned by normal people.
LOCATIONS:
September 5, 2010: Colonial Lake, downtown Charleston
**Please note: If the temperature is above 95 degrees, or the heat index is above 100 degrees, we will not hold the September Bully Walk. Please check the weather prior to leaving home.
RULES:
The following common-sense rules will be strictly enforced to provide a safe, fun environment to everyone who joins us:
1. Absolutely NO retractable leashes
2. One dog per person
3. Any dog that exhibits dog aggression, even mild or occasional dog aggression, should wear a RED scarf, handkerchief, or piece of cloth tied to the collar. The owner should make sure to bring the red material to the bully walk.*
*We would like to assist owners with challenging dogs by offering guidance and assistance. Our walks are open to dog aggressive dogs in order to promote socialization to a dog who would otherwise not be able to socialize. A red scarf is REQUIRED. If your dog exhibits dog aggression and you do not have a red cloth to distinguish your dog, you will be asked to leave. The purpose of the red cloth is to alert other dog owners about your dog's challenges. Other dog owners will approach with caution with their dogs and make sure your dog-aggressive dog is treated respectfully. This method has been successful in the last 5 Bully Walks and will continue to be successful as long as everyone adheres to the rule.
