Animal cruelty is a crime.
South Carolina Pit Bull rescue is not authorized to act on behalf of the law. Our rescue does not have arrest powers and we cannot pursue individuals who abuse, neglect, or abandon Pit Bulls.
We get A LOT of emails and phone messages on reports of possible animal neglect, abuse, and dog fighting. We truly appreciate the effort the community makes in reporting animal abuse.
If you suspect animal abuse, neglect, or abandonment, please call the police department and make a report to animal control. The most important thing you can do is report possible cases to the local police department covering the area of residence.
If you look in the phone book you will find all the departments and their phone numbers so you can report a problem directly to them.

Some animal cruelty offenders do not stop there; a majority of times police officers find that the spouse or children are being abused as well, or drugs are present on the premises. Acting and reporting could not only save an animal’s life but a human as well.
We stress that it is important NOT to take the law into your own hands and try to handle the crime on your own. There are people out there trained in handling these dangerous situations. Please call the authorities before you act.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue cannot remove an abused, neglected, or abandoned Pit Bull from any location unless directed to do so by the police department or other governing authority in the area of the animal.
