Our Mission:
South Carolina Pit Bull's mission is to rescue homeless Pit Bulls from South Carolina animal shelters, provide proper rehabilitation and care to those Pit Bulls, and find them permanent, loving homes. South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue is also an educational organization that provides educational support to communities in South Carolina.
Our History:
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue was founded on April 27, 2007 as Lowcountry Pit Bull Rescue. The name was changed in October 2008 after the rescue expanded and began rescuing dogs from across the state of South Carolina. South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue is the only statewide Pit Bull rescue in South Carolina.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue has rescued over 125 homeless "pit bulls" (a term encompassing many breeds).
Tax Exempt Status:
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue is a SC non-profit corporation, with federal tax-exempt 501(c)3 status.
How We Operate:
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue is a privately run rescue which uses a foster home program to rescue Pit bulls. All of the dogs in the program are kept in foster homes, where they recieve proper care and basic obedience training.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue does not have a shelter or kennel. Appointments must be made to visit with the dogs in foster homes.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue does not have a publically available office to visit. All official documentation and/or files for the rescue are kept at volunteer homes.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue temperament tests every dog that is accepted by the rescue. All dogs must pass a temperament test before being accepted.
South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue does not accept dogs with a previous bite history, due to insurance regulations.
All dogs adopted out by South Carolina Pit Bull Rescue are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.
